About this recipe

There’s nothing quite like the perfect roast potato, and these Garlic Roast Potatoes are the ultimate comfort food. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re loaded with garlicky goodness, making them an irresistible addition to any meal.

The key to success here is using fluffy potatoes, like Maris Piper or King Edward, and roasting them at a high temperature with garlic and herbs to achieve that mouth-watering golden crust. These potatoes make the perfect accompaniment to roast meats, gravy, or even served alongside a fresh salad for a simple meal.

They’re incredibly easy to make and versatile, so whether you're preparing them for a family dinner, a holiday feast, or just a casual weeknight meal, these Garlic Roast Potatoes will always be a hit.

FAQ: Garlic Roast Potatoes Recipe

1. Can I use other types of potatoes for this recipe?
While fluffy potatoes like Maris Piper or King Edward work best for creating a crispy exterior and soft interior, you can use other types of potatoes as well. Just make sure they’re suitable for roasting to get the desired texture.

2. How do I make sure the potatoes stay crispy?
To get crispy potatoes, make sure to parboil them before roasting. After boiling, rough up the edges by shaking them in the pot, and then roast them at a high temperature with enough oil to coat them. The oil helps achieve that beautiful golden and crispy texture.

3. Can I prepare these potatoes ahead of time?
Yes! You can parboil and season the potatoes a day before and store them in the fridge. When ready to roast, simply heat them in the oven for around 25 minutes or until they are crispy and golden.

4. Can I add extra herbs or seasonings?
Absolutely! Feel free to experiment with herbs like rosemary, thyme, or oregano. You can also try adding a little paprika or chili flakes if you like a bit of heat.

5. How long will leftovers last?
Leftover Garlic Roast Potatoes can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the oven or a frying pan for best results, to keep the crispy texture intact.

These Garlic Roast Potatoes are easy to make, full of flavour, and sure to be the star of any meal. Perfectly crispy, garlicky, and satisfying – what more could you ask for?

  • Instructions

    1. Wash and chop your potatoes into bite sized chunks and begin to boil your water
    2. To boiling water (very important the water is already boiling) add 1 heaped teaspoon of baking soda to the water. This will help break down pectin and ensure a crispy potato
    3. Boil for 10-13 mins until you can pierce with a fork. You don’t want these too soft or they won’t crisp as well.
    4. Transfer to a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper (potatoes stick to aluminium foil) and season your potatoes.
    5. Once seasoned pour a generous amount of oil and put into a preheated oven of 200 degrees celcius
    6. Bake for 15-25 mins or until golden brown.
    7. Enjoy!
